MOTIONLESS
1. "ICE"
This event happened years ago: pack ice on our lake, and someone had nothing better to do than grab all their camera gear and force me to "tag along." One loves photography, the other loves music. After a short time, I retreated back into our cozy, warm home and watched the photo session from the conservatory with a cup of tea. Truly impressive shots were captured, especially in the macro range. Ralf mentioned that we could make an interesting video out of this material, naturally accompanied by music. That was a few years ago, until I stumbled across the photos again. In January 2018, I finally accomplished it: a fitting soundtrack for the cold backdrop.
2. "SMALL PARTICLESS"
I recorded this track live, and it instantly invites you to relax. Within this deep calm, the imagination begins to dance: you can practically see tiny, glittering dust motes or fine ice crystals floating in the light. These small particles drift weightlessly to the beat of the music, taking the listener on a meditative journey where the everyday world completely fades away.
3. "RELAXING FIELDS"
Today is probably one of those days where I don't feel like doing anything. Time for a live performance on the synths. Sometimes you just need those long, undisturbed minutes to escape everyday life and stress. The warm, analog sounds spread out like endless fields in an autumn breeze. With every note, you dive deeper into this soundscape, letting your thoughts float freely and finding the exact peace of mind that was so needed on a day like this.
4. "THE LIFE WATER"
This track dates back to the very beginnings of my music productions. For weeks now, I’ve been sorting through my archives from around the year 2000—and understandably, a lot of it is ending up in the digital bin. But then this live EP from 2008 caught my ear, and I’m definitely keeping this one. The piece seems to originate from my early musical days, long before the Nautilus albums. Listening to it now, the gear from back then comes alive again: you can clearly hear the legendary Roland JD-800 in the background, while the driving sequencer likely comes from the JP-8000. The distinct flute and the rest of the sonic "critters" definitely came from the XP-30. The flute playing in particular instantly triggers a specific memory: it always brings Raimund Harmstorf as Captain Wolf Larsen to mind. The legendary original 1971 TV mini-series of "The Sea-Wolf"—a fantastic German-Romanian-French co-production—was my core inspiration for "The Life Water" back then. A true insider tip, whereas all subsequent remake attempts, even the 1993 version starring Charles Bronson, unfortunately fell completely flat.
1. "ICE"
4. "THE LIFE WATER"
